GOOD BOY is basically open. Not sure the exact moment, but look for it any day. Already serving food now and then. That will be an interesting thing to watch. I can’t imagine it failing… Franks has survived what, 30 years and if you don’t F with that show too much there’s no reason why it can’t go another 30. Also anything Nate touches turns to gold. Such a community treasure. Yeah, but what if he had called it Good Girl? There would be RAGE. Funny how that works. Across the street ALMA keeps promising to open. When did Steinberg Gallery close and sell? I wanna say it was pre-covid.

Reviews keep drifting in from PARK 1039. I guess it’s iberian. Chef from La Cosecha and Junction (and a few other places unrelated) so that fits. The *intent* and *vision* statements on the website read like the most carefully-constructed millennial IG captions of all time, full of nauseating keywords meaning nothing and loosely translated to: “We’re a restaurant”. Can’t wait to see the wine-list though.

Drove by all the new 5-over-2’s in Grover again this week. Despite a couple resty promises and rumors, the ground floor spaces remain bone-empty, despite stories of the residences above being sold out months in advance. Down the street, pretty sure the iconic Station Grill became GOOFY FOOT GRILL. Speaking of construction, THE RESTAURANT AT EDNA plugs along, though Dooley pulled out of the collaborative tasting room. Up in Morro Bay, Harbor Walk’s ground-floor restaurant inches along, with drywall finally going in. Not sure how they got away with not having a dining space open for two years even though the Embarcadero lease and use permit and city planning requirements were for a performing, contributing restaurant operating as part of the approved plan. Some sort of collaborative dining thing going on there, too. Several themes surrounding a common eating area and patio with somewhat multiple kitchens and some shared BOH areas. Will be an interesting thing to watch. Think: FOOD COURT with a twist. Hope everybody gets along.

There was something else open in AG I saw this week and had it pegged for taking over yNot by OSH, but I was wrong. Up in Atascadero, work continues hard on the “neighborhood market” in the old bank and Coldwell Realty spot overlooking sunken gardens. I’m sure they have a website up by now…. lemme look. Ah yes: GARDEN CITY MARKET there’s no website but an IG. Highway 1 is open to Big Sur. Go drive somewhere and eat.
